The Skyline student news magazine and The Brand yearbook are published by the News and Publications Department. Both publications are created, designed and written by student staff members.
The Skyline news magazine is produced biweekly during the fall and spring semesters by a student staff. The magazine provides the university community with news concerning students, faculty and campus events as well as providing a forum for students to discuss ideas and express opinions. The magazine also provides a historical record of Sul Ross State University.

The Brand yearbook is produced annually by a student staff. The yearbook serves as the official historical document of Sul Ross State University, providing a documentation in both writing and pictures of each academic year.
Both publications have received numerous awards from the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association for art, photography and writing.
The 2016 Brand, which covers the 2015-2016 academic year, was produced by student co-editors Jesus H. Guerrero (designer) and Vashti Armendariz (writer/photographer), with contributions from student photographers and writers Susanna Mendez, Magaly De Leon, Gunner Gardner, Malyssa Reed, Marina Escamilla, Chris Castillo, Bailey Dunks, Stephanie Elmore, and Whitney Acosta.

The Sage, the university's award-winning literary magazine, showcases essays, short stories, poems, art and photography from the student body of Sul Ross State University. The magazine won the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association Sweepstakes Award for 1999 and 2000, along with numerous individual awards.
