Sally Roche, Ph.D. has been promoted to Dean of the College of Humanities and Science at Sul Ross State University in Eagle Pass, effective Nov. 1.
Dr. Roche has been serving as Interim Dean since April and has played an integral role in the leadership and advancement of the college.
She began work at SRSU in 1999 with an appointment as Assistant Professor of English. Over the years, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the university’s mission and has earned several significant academic and administrative distinctions. In 2005, Dr. Roche was granted tenure and promoted to Associate Professor. In 2011, she became a full professor and Chair of the Department of Humanities, which she served until 2017.
From 2010 to 2013, Dr. Roche represented SRSU in her role as President of the Texas Council of Faculty Senates. Her work as a Teagle Assessment Scholar with the Center of Inquiry at Wabash College from 2011 to 2017 prepared her to serve as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Faculty Liaison for Institutional Effectiveness. In recognition of her exceptional service and academic contributions, Dr. Roche was awarded the President’s Distinguished Faculty Award in 2017.
Dr. Roche resumed her leadership as Chair of Humanities in 2020, in addition to chairing the Department of Languages and Literature in 2021.
In her twenty-sixth year of dedicated service, Dr. Roche embarks on this new chapter of leadership as the Dean of the College of Humanities and Sciences.
