Join SRSU staff on guided hikes on Hancock Hill one Saturday each month at 9:00am.

Each hike will have a theme and hike leader who serves as the subject matter expert from Sul Ross.
Hike themes will vary each month, with topics ranging from birds and plants to geology and anthropology.
Learn about the history of Alpine and Sul Ross and the natural history of Hancock Hill, while taking in stunning views.

This 1.8-mile hike is moderately strenuous and will last 2 hours.
Note: this hike will not visit the Sul Ross Desk.

Hike Details:

Location: Hancock Hill – start and end at the Hancock Hill Trailhead
700 N Bird Street, Alpine, TX 79830  See Google Maps link

Distance:  1.8 miles

Elevation gain:  383 feet

Difficulty:  moderately difficult with loose rocks and occasional steep inclines

Duration:  2 hours

Capacity:  12 people, sign-up required

Cost:  Free

Preparation:  Wear close-toed shoes with decent traction, long pants, appropriate sun protection and layers, and carry 1-2 liters of water
