The Office of Financial Aid at Sul Ross State University is staffed by a team of mission-driven professionals. Financial Aid’s objective is to create and maintain a courteous, educated, equitable, and caring environment for students and their families. We work diligently to monitor all federal, state, and institutional aid funding to assist students and their families in maximizing aid resources. Additionally, we strive to eliminate financial obstacles so that students can achieve a higher education while we conduct ourselves in a manner that is professional, consistent, confidential, honest, and efficient.

All members of the SRSU Financial Aid team are active participants in the Texas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (TASFAA). Adhering to strict Federal and State guidelines, our staff ensures fair and compliant distribution of aid to students.

Our commitment to staying updated on regulations is evident through regular attendance at TASFAA’s New Aid Officer Workshops and annual training events. By remaining current, we provide accurate and informed guidance to students.

SRSU Financial Aid staff are readily available to counsel students on available funding opportunities, aiming to minimize potential student debt from loans. Our goal is to empower students to make well-informed financial decisions throughout their academic journey.

The 2025-2026 FAFSA is Now Available!

We are pleased to announce the FAFSA application for the 2025-2026 academic year is now open! Students are encouraged to submit their FAFSA application by the priority deadline to be considered for all forms of financial aid and avoid processing delays. This application will help you for Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026.

Information you may need:

  • Your parents’ 2023 Tax returns, if you’re a dependent student
  • If filed, your 2023 Tax returns
  • Records of child support received
  • Current balances of cash, savings, and checking accounts
  • Net worth of investments, businesses, and farm

If you or your parent(s) don’t already have an FSA ID, create one before starting the FAFSA.

  • Whether you’re a student, parent, or borrower, you’ll need to create your own account to apply for, receive, and manage your federal student aid.
  • Go to the FSA Create an Account website to create your account, preferably at least three days before filling out the FAFSA.

Make sure each contributor to the FAFSA has their own email address.

  • Contributors who use the same email address will not be able to successfully complete the FAFSA.

Don’t forget to add our school code to your FAFSA.

  • Our school code is 003625. Ensure your application is correctly processed by including this code on your FAFSA.

After all sections of the online FAFSA form are completed and submitted, you will receive a confirmation email noting your submission date, your estimated Student Aid Index (SAI), and estimated Federal Pell Grant eligibility. However, you will not receive a FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS) until FSA processes your FAFSA.

Once your application is received, we will process your application and determine your financial aid eligibility, followed by an email notification from your assigned counselor in the Office of Financial Aid. Please be sure to monitor your email regularly for updates.

We’re Here to Help: We are committed to ensuring that your financial aid journey is as smooth as possible. Please contact our financial aid office at 432-837-8050 or fa@sulross.edu for immediate assistance or any concerns.
