Family weekend is returning to Sul Ross. The campus is excited to get back to having students and their families to immerse themselves in all Sul Ross has to offer.
This is always a unique experience to learn about this special campus and form a connection with the local community and all it has to offer. It starts Friday, October 22nd and runs throughout the weekend with a full slate of opportunities for families of students to get a first hand look at life here at Sul Ross.
In addition to what’s scheduled, both Friday and Saturday have a healthy dose of games to get a good look at our athletic program. It kicks off with a volleyball game at the Gallego Center at 7 PM. Then Saturday features Football, Volleyball, and both Men’s and Women’s soccer teams in action throughout the day.
But there’s plenty more packed in for what will be a great weekend.

9:00am – 5:00pm | Exhibits in the Museum of the Big Bend.
Big Bend Legacy is located in the vast main exhibit space and tells the story of the Big Bend country from the Rio Grande to the Davis Mountains! This exhibit utilizes a large topographic map, artifacts from the Museum’s collection, interpretive panels and touchscreen video kiosks to tell the story of this wonderful country.
Cow Hands is an intimate black and white photography exhibit in the hallway behind the Museum’s gift shop. Images of area cowboys taken by nationally recognized photographer Jerry Goodale captures cattle work throughout the year. 35th Trappings of Texas celebrates cowboy culture by combining custom cowboy gear with contemporary Western art. One of the oldest exhibits of its kind in the country and considered to the best, Trappings showcases the artistry of the men and women who know the ranching industry. If you see a label without a red dot, it is still for sale! Let the Museum staff help you purchase a slice of Western life.
Down one flight of stairs, enjoy maps from the Yana and Marty Davis Map Collection in the exhibit Myths, Mistakes, Monsters and Lies . This exhibit is a scholarly and entertaining look at some maps based on some rather dubious information!
Wear your name badge and the $5 admission is waived! |
