
Guitar in the Big Bend and the Sul Ross State University Music Program announced that acclaimed international concert artists, Duo Fortis, will perform in Marfa and Alpine in February.
The Marfa concert will be Friday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. The Alpine concert will be Saturday, Feb. 8, at 6 p.m. at the Museum of the Big Bend. Both concerts are free.
A masterclass will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8, from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by a Texas Luthier display and presentation from 3 to 5 p.m., both at the Fine Arts Building on the SRSU campus.
Formed in 2021, Duo Fortis is comprised of Grammy-nominated guitarists Isaac Bustos and Alejandro Montiel. Both founding members of the acclaimed Texas Guitar Quartet, they joined forces to present classic and new works for guitar duo with unrivaled energy, sound and power. Duo Fortis has performed as soloists and with orchestras around the US, Mexico and Latin America.
Both Professors of Guitar at the University of Texas at San Antonio, Dr. Bustos and Dr. Montiel have traveled the world performing and teaching. In Fall 2024 alone, they performed and taught in Columbia, Argentina and Chile along with various locations throughout the U.S.
