The Third Annual Sul Ross State University Undergraduate and Graduate Symposium is scheduled for Monday, April 20, 2020.
The event will be held from noon to 6:00 p.m. in the Espino Conference Center of the Morgan University Center.
Sul Ross faculty from Alpine and Middle Rio Grande Campuses are encouraged to nominate students who have produced excellent research or creative work during the current academic year (Fall, 2019 or work-in-progress Spring, 2020).
Students who are nominated are required to provide a title and a 250-word abstract of their presentation or poster which will then be submitted through the Symposium nomination form.
Information on accessing the form will soon be sent out to faculty at all four campuses from srsusymposium@sulross.edu.
Student nomination deadline is Friday, March 13.
A brief preview of some of the student-produced projects include work from undergraduate Psychology majors Elisa Ynosencio and Acy Martinez from Sul Ross MRGC-Uvalde.
“They are working on an experiment in psychology investigating the relationship between social media exposure and levels of anxiety,” said Dr. Tiffany Culver, Associate Professor of Psychology at Sul Ross Middle Rio Grande Campuses in Del Rio, Eagle Pass and Uvalde.
“We work as a ‘team,'” Culver said. “I am the instructor but I am also part of their research team.”
The keynote speaker at the 2020 Symposium will be announced at a later date. The keynote address is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on April 20.
The 2019 Symposium hosted nearly 100 students representing all four Sul Ross campuses and academic disciplines.
