The Museum of the Big Bend on the campus of Sul Ross State University has once again earned national recognition, securing the No. 7 spot in USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for 2025.
The USA Today 10Best awards celebrate excellence across various categories, with millions of readers casting their votes each year to recognize top destinations, attractions and institutions. This honor underscores the museum’s widespread appeal and continued dedication to preserving and sharing the history, art and heritage of the Big Bend region.
In 2024, the Museum of the Big Bend claimed the top position in the poll, a testament to its exceptional exhibits and community engagement.
“We are honored to be recognized once again among the nation’s top museums,” said Dr. John Klingemann, director of the Museum of the Big Bend. “This achievement reflects the hard work and passion of our team, as well as the support of our visitors and community. We remain committed to preserving and celebrating the rich history and culture of the Big Bend region for generations to come.”
As a premier cultural destination in Far West Texas, the museum offers a rich collection that spans centuries of exploration, settlement and artistic expression. Visitors can explore Native American artifacts, pioneer memorabilia and contemporary works of art, all showcasing the diverse heritage of the Big Bend region.
Beyond its permanent collection, the museum hosts rotating exhibitions, educational programs and community events throughout the year. From hands-on workshops and guided tours to thought-provoking lectures, there’s always something new to experience.
