Sul Ross State University announced the launch of its Master of Science in Management degree, commencing in Fall 2025, pending approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
This innovative graduate program is designed to equip students with modern management skills essential for success in a rapidly evolving, post-pandemic business landscape. This degree is ideal for students with liberal arts, social science and STEM backgrounds seeking to transition into the business field who might be hesitant about the all-in MBA. It is also the perfect degree for students who are already in the workforce and looking for promotion into management positions.
The 30-credit-hour program, which can be completed in as little as one year, provides students with a focused management education, eliminating traditional barriers posed by accounting and finance requirements in MBA programs. This program emphasizes the critical role of effective management in driving the success of both for-profit and non-profit organizations, as well as government agencies.
Students will engage in courses developed and delivered by experienced industry professionals from diverse business sectors. The curriculum covers key topics such as business communication and influence, marketing leadership and innovation, talent management and development, international business, managing organizational change and business strategy, ensuring graduates emerge as well-rounded leaders.
To further enhance their professional profiles, students will earn certificates in Change Leadership and Communication as well as Strategic Leadership and Innovation, which can be showcased immediately on resumes and professional networking platforms.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for management roles is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations over the next decade. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, as of May 2023, the median salary for managers stood at $116,880, underscoring the lucrative career prospects in this field.
“I am honored to serve as program chair for our new Master of Science in Management,” said Dr. Candice Ward, a visiting assistant professor in the RGCOB. “This carefully curated program provides a well-rounded, graduate management degree taught by managers operating across business sectors.”
