
Sul Ross State University announced the launch of its new Master of Science in Cybersecurity and Risk Assurance, beginning in Fall 2025.
This cutting-edge graduate program is designed to equip students with essential skills for today’s technology-driven world, focusing on protecting data and assessing technology-related risks.
This accelerated 30-credit-hour program can be completed in as little as one year, providing a fast track to career advancement. As students progress through the curriculum, they will earn industry-recognized certificates in Digital Fraud and Risk Management, as well as Business Challenges and Cyber Risk Management. These credentials allow students to highlight their expertise on resumes and professional networking platforms even before completing the degree.
The program offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes courses in fraud examination, governance and risk assurance, cyber risk strategy, forensic accounting, and the management of information assets. These courses are developed and taught by industry professionals with extensive real-world expertise, ensuring students receive practical, career-ready education.
This advanced degree is particularly suited for students with a background in accounting or business, providing a unique opportunity to specialize in cybersecurity and risk assurance—fields highly sought after across all industries. Graduates will be well-prepared for roles in data protection, risk management and information security.
The demand for cybersecurity professionals continues to rise. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for information security analysts is projected to grow by 33 percent, with nearly 60,000 new jobs anticipated over the next decade. As of May 2023, the median salary for information security managers reached $120,360, highlighting the lucrative potential of this career path.
