For the second consecutive game, Sul Ross women’s soccer held its opponent scoreless as the Lady Lobos claimed a 2-0 shutout win over visiting Louisiana College on Thursday, Oct. 11.
Both goals came in the second half as Britney Bereumen scored off a batted pass by senior defender Rachel Hamilton at the 50th minute.
Aylin Pereyra then banked on a hard and fast shot under the goalie at the 73rd minute for a 2-0 Sul Ross lead and the eventual victory.
The Lady Lobos pounded out 26 shots placing 18 on goal while holding Louisiana College to a one-shot tally.
Individually, Emily Mihalik recorded a team-leading seven shots with four on goal. Berumen and fellow sophomore Marlie Martin posted three shots with two on goal. Aylin Villalobos saddled two shots with both shots on frame.
Senior goal keeper Kelly Swenson picked up her second win of the season and improved to 2-1 with Thursday’s win.
Sul Ross improves to 5-4-0 on the season and 4-2-0 in ASC play. Louisiana College drops to 1-10-1 and 0-7-1.
