Who We Are

The Office of University Communications at Sul Ross State University serves as a strategic resource dedicated to advancing the university’s mission, promoting its achievements, and enhancing its reputation through impactful storytelling and cohesive branding. We strive to elevate awareness of the university by developing and implementing innovative marketing and communications strategies that resonate with prospective students, current students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the wider community.

What We Do

Our team provides comprehensive communications and marketing support across Sul Ross State University. We partner with academic and administrative departments, student organizations, and university leadership to ensure that all messaging is consistent, engaging, and aligned with institutional branding standards.

Key services include:

  • Marketing & Branding: Development of cohesive, university-wide marketing initiatives that reflect the core values and identity of Sul Ross.
  • Social Media Management: Oversight and strategic management of the university’s primary social media platforms to foster engagement and share the SRSU story.
  • Content Creation: Production of compelling written, visual, and multimedia content—ranging from news stories and event coverage to graphic design and video production.
  • Strategic Promotion: Promotion of university events, programs, and milestones to support student recruitment, retention, alumni engagement, and public awareness.
  • Creative Services: Design and development of branded materials, including promotional videos, digital and print graphics, and marketing collateral.
  • Brand Quality Assurance: Review and guidance to ensure all university communications comply with current branding standards and visual identity guidelines.
  • Departmental Support: Collaborative support for campus units, committees, and organizations in planning and executing effective communication strategies.

Vision

Our vision is to be a dynamic and fully integrated communications office that serves as a central hub for innovative marketing, content creation, and brand leadership—ensuring Sul Ross State University is recognized and respected locally, regionally, and beyond.

The Office of University Communications oversees the content and structure of the official Sul Ross State University website. We work closely with departments and programs to ensure that web pages are accurate, user-friendly, and aligned with the university’s brand identity. Our team provides support for website updates, content development, accessibility compliance, and web design best practices. We aim to create a web experience that is informative, consistent, and responsive across all devices—serving as a central hub for current and prospective students, faculty, staff, and the community.

The Communications team manages Sul Ross State University’s messaging through social media, press releases, and public relations efforts. We work closely with campus partners to share timely, accurate, and engaging stories that highlight university initiatives, achievements, and events. Our goal is to maintain a consistent voice and strong public presence that connects the university with students, employees, alumni, media outlets, and the broader community.

Media Services supports Sul Ross State University by providing professional video and podcast production services that enhance teaching, learning, and outreach. We collaborate with faculty, staff, and departments to create engaging multimedia content for instructional use, promotional efforts, and campus communications. Our team assists with recording, editing, and distribution to ensure content is accessible, polished, and effective across multiple platforms.

The Print Shop provides comprehensive printing and publication services in support of Sul Ross State University’s academic and administrative needs. We work with departments and programs to produce high-quality printed materials, including brochures, flyers, posters, programs, and official publications. Our team offers guidance on design, layout, and production to ensure materials are professional, cost-effective, and aligned with the university’s branding standards.
