The Sul Ross State University College of Health Sciences has formalized a new international partnership through its Department of Public Health with the Inter-American Center for Global Health (CISG) in San Vito de Coto Brus, Costa Rica.
The agreement establishes a collaborative framework designed to expand global health education, research and community engagement opportunities for students and faculty at Sul Ross, and outlines shared goals between the two institutions, including the development of study abroad programs, joint academic initiatives and experiential learning opportunities focused on global health.
CISG is dedicated to immersive, field-based learning that connects students with real global health challenges. Through this partnership, Sul Ross students will have opportunities to travel abroad and engage directly with public health professionals, community leaders and interdisciplinary teams working at the intersection of health, sustainability and social impact.
The collaboration will support a range of initiatives, including:
- Study abroad and field-based learning experiences in Costa Rica
- Joint workshops, seminars and educational programming
- Collaborative research and dissemination of best practices in global health education
- Exchange of academic resources and expertise between institutions
The partnership aligns closely with Sul Ross State University’s Master of Public Health degree program, which emphasizes practical experience and accelerated pathways for students preparing for careers in public health and related fields. By integrating international experiential learning into its offerings, the program continues to expand its reach and impact.
