
Sul Ross State University invites educators, school leaders, community members and STEM enthusiasts to attend the Science of STEM Literacy Conference on Monday, July 13, in the Espino Conference Center at the Morgan University Center in Alpine.
Designed to bring educators together around innovative teaching and learning practices, the conference will explore how STEM literacy is evolving in the age of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
The conference from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. is free and open to educators and the public, though registration is required. Participants will receive six Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours, a free catered lunch and opportunities to collaborate with educators, researchers and STEM leaders from across the region.
Attendees will also enjoy a private viewing experience of “Spark! Places of Innovation,” the Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibition hosted by the Museum of the Big Bend.
This year’s conference includes a special emphasis on:
- Artificial Intelligence and STEM literacy
- The K–12 AI Presidential Challenge
- Innovative instructional strategies from elementary through university settings
- Rural and regional approaches to STEM and literacy education
Featured presenters and partners include representatives from:

- Museum of the Big Bend
The conference will also feature presentations and panel discussions from Noyce Scholars, Noyce Mentors and Noyce Alumni.
Registration is limited to 60 participants, and early registration is encouraged.
