The Latin America case series serves as an essential resource that emphasizes the importance of regional perspectives in business education, showcasing innovative cases that enable learners to understand diverse business environments and practices.
The case method, which originated at Harvard Law School in 1870, has significantly influenced education. This pedagogical approach was incorporated into business education in 1924, particularly within the discipline of management. It encourages active learning by allowing students to engage deeply with real-world scenarios, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Through discussion and analysis of cases, students learn to apply theoretical concepts to practical situations, effectively preparing them for the complexities of the business world.
Established in 2014, Sage Business Cases has rapidly expanded to include approximately 1,500 cases in its collection, serving as a vital platform for educators engaged in active learning methods. This initiative is supported by Sage Publishing, founded in 1965 in the United Kingdom, which has grown to become a leading independent academic publisher, responsible for publishing over 1,000 articles and 800 books annually across various disciplines.
Dr. Russo’s appointment as Guest Editor highlights his ongoing commitment to advancing business education in Latin America and his leadership in developing high-quality case studies that enhance learning experiences worldwide.
