Events & Alumni Engagement at Sul Ross State University
Sul Ross State University actively engages its alumni community through a variety of events, chapters, and recognition programs designed to connect former students and supporters with the university. Regional alumni chapters, such as the San Antonio SR Alumni Chapter and the 915 Lobos El Paso Chapter, host social and fundraising activities that support scholarships and mentorship opportunities for current and prospective Sul Ross students. The Sul Ross Alumni Association fosters lifelong connections through networking, communications, and volunteer opportunities, including service on the Alumni Association Advisory Board. In addition to alumni-focused events, campus career fairs and alumni career resources help connect alumni back into university life and professional development opportunities.

Donations & Advancement Activities
While specific current fundraising campaigns are not detailed on the main site, many alumni chapter activities and events – including scholarship fundraising efforts – support the university’s development priorities. Annual Events

Support this annual community event held on the Alpine campus for families with elementary age children. Each year a nationally known author visits Alpine and shares books he or she has written with the children and their families. University faculty and staff and community members also contribute to the evening of reading to celebrate literacy and literature. Dinner is provided and each family receives a free book autographed by the guest author.
2026 National Teacher of the Year Leon Smith
Support the proud tradition of teaching going back to the university founding in 1917 as a teacher’s college. Your donations help the College of Education bring the National Teacher of the Year to Alpine each year for a day to meet with teachers, students and the community and kindle the passion for teaching and learning.
“The Brand”
Sul Ross State University traditionally celebrates our homecoming game during the Fall Semester each year. Current students and Alumni gather together for a week long series of events and celebrate Lobo pride.
