Kinesiology and Human Performance

The Kinesiology and Human Performance program at Sul Ross State University offers professional training for students pursuing careers in health, fitness, recreation, education, and sports. With a strong emphasis on quality teaching, hands-on learning, and service, the program prepares a diverse student population for a wide range of professional opportunities.

Students can choose from three specialized concentrations or pursue teacher certification:

  • Athletic Training Concentration

  • Exercise Science Concentration

  • Allied Health Concentration
  • Sport and Recreation Concentration

  • All-Level Physical Education Teacher Certification


Minor in Kinesiology and Human Performance
This 18-credit minor provides students with foundational knowledge in kinesiology and physical education. It includes at least 6 upper-division (3000–4000 level) credit hours, making it a valuable addition for students interested in health, wellness, or sports-related careers.


Minor in Recreation Administration
The Recreation Administration minor offers students an 18-credit foundation in recreation and leisure services, leadership, and outdoor skills. Coursework prepares students to promote active, healthy lifestyles across all age groups and to work effectively in community-based recreational settings.
