The Political Science program at Sul Ross State University gives students the knowledge and tools to thrive in public service, politics, law, education, and nonprofit leadership. With a focus on government systems, political theory, and real-world application, this program helps students tackle today’s big political questions—power, equality, and the role of government in society.

Bachelor of Arts in Political Science

Our undergraduate program prepares students to lead at the local, state, or national level. You’ll:

  • Explore U.S. and global political systems
  • Conduct and present original research
  • Build professional networks through campus and national organizations
  • Gain hands-on experience through internships
  • Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills for public issues

Political Science Minor

Add a strong foundation in political science to your degree with an 18-hour minor, including at least 6 hours of advanced coursework. PS 2305 and PS 2306 may count toward these requirements.


Master of Arts in Political Science

The MA in Political Science is designed for students interested in:

  • Teaching at the college level
  • Public or government service
  • Secondary education careers
  • Graduate research and continued academic study
  • Enhancing civic knowledge as engaged citizens

Graduate students explore topics like voter turnout, term limits, sanctions in foreign policy, and the social effects of political affiliation.
