PSYCHOLOGY

The Psychology program at Sul Ross State University provides students with a meaningful understanding of human thought and behavior—empowering personal insight and professional growth. Through a focus on both theory and application, students explore how the mind works and how behavior is shaped by internal and external influences.

This undergraduate program prepares students for careers in human services, counseling, education, and related fields. It also serves as a strong foundation for graduate study in psychology, social work, and other helping professions.

Program Highlights

  • Broad Curriculum: Courses cover topics such as personality, development, mental health, and cognitive processes.
  • Career-Focused: Ideal for students pursuing work in social services, healthcare, education, or business.
  • Graduate-Ready: Prepares students for advanced study in psychology, counseling, and allied fields.

A minor in Psychology requires 18 semester credit hours, including at least six hours of upper-division coursework. This is an excellent complement to majors in education, criminal justice, business, or public administration.
