Sul Ross State University (SRSU) has named Allison Scott as the inaugural recipient of its Faculty Feedback Award, recognizing her exceptional commitment to student engagement, meaningful feedback and academic support through the university’s Connecting with Students for Success program.
The Faculty Feedback Award was established to honor an instructor who exemplifies best practices in knowing students by name, maintaining high academic standards while offering strong support, providing timely and constructive feedback and prioritizing individual connections with students.
As part of the program, students were invited to nominate a professor through a fall semester survey and share why that faculty member made a meaningful impact on their learning experience.
Scott, an instructor in Behavioral and Social Sciences, has three degrees and education certification from SRSU. A former public school principal, teacher and counselor, she was selected from among 52 faculty participants across all SRSU campuses who took part in the Connecting with Students for Success program during the fall semester.
Collectively, these faculty members impacted 852 students in their classes. A total of 372 students completed the survey, resulting in a strong response rate of 43.7 percent.
While many participating faculty members received one or more nominations, Scott stood out based on both the number and quality of student nominations, as well as her class size and the level of student participation in the survey. Student feedback consistently highlighted her approachability, dedication to individualized feedback and genuine interest in student success, underscoring the goals of the Connecting with Students for Success initiative.
The Connecting with Students for Success program is designed to promote academic growth and student retention by encouraging faculty-student dialogue and personalized support throughout the semester. The Faculty Feedback Award will continue annually to recognize outstanding faculty contributions within the program.
