Dr. Eduardo Russo, assistant professor of International Business in the Rio Grande College of Business at Sul Ross State University, presented at the 51st annual European International Business Academy (EIBA) Conference held Dec. 11-14 in Athens, Greece.
Founded in 1974, the European International Business Academy is one of the world’s leading academic associations in international business research. The annual conference brings together scholars from more than 50 countries to examine global strategy, sustainability, geopolitics and multinational enterprise development.
“Representing Sul Ross State University at EIBA 2025 positioned our school at one of the world’s premier international business forums, enabling us to share cutting-edge research on sustainability and internationalization while forging ties with leading European and global institutions,” said Dr. Russo “Conversations highlighted curiosity and interest about our institution, marking a significant gain in visibility across the continent.”
During the conference, Dr. Russo presented two scholarly works in competitive and interactive sessions.
His research paper, “Geo-Adaptive Corporate Sustainability in a Fragmented World,” synthesizes findings from 435 peer-reviewed articles and introduces a new Geo-Adaptive Corporate Sustainability (GACS) framework. The model offers multinational enterprises guidance for aligning environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategies amid rising geopolitical uncertainty.
Dr. Russo also presented a teaching case titled “The Challenge of Top Amazon in the Face of Internationalization.” The case examines a Brazilian cosmetics company that uses Amazonian ingredients to produce vegan products and explores the firm’s challenges as it considers expansion into European markets, including supply chain constraints, regulatory compliance and scalability pressures.
Feedback received during the conference will inform revisions for journal submissions, with publications expected in the coming months. The presentations generated active discussion among international scholars and contributed to expanding Sul Ross State University’s global academic presence.
“Dr. Russo’s contribution continues to position the College of Business for our growth and expansion,” said Dr. Sumantra Sengupta, Dean of the Rio Grande College of Business “Our new online Masters in International Business will start accepting students in this fall and our BBA in Global Management continues to attract a new generation of business leaders.”
