
Dr. Shelly Landreth, Chair of the Department of Education at Sul Ross State University, is featured in the Fall 2025 volume of Literacy News, the newsletter for the Association for Literacy Educators and Researchers (ALER).
Dr. Landreth’s inclusion in Literacy News recognizes her continued leadership in literacy educator preparation and her work supporting literacy development across learning communities. As Chair of Education at SRSU, she oversees programs that prepare future teachers to excel in classrooms across Texas.
Dr. Landreth also serves on the editorial team of ALER’s journal Literacy Research & Instruction.
Founded more than six decades ago, ALER is a national organization dedicated to advancing literacy research, promoting high-quality literacy instruction and supporting educators who work to improve reading and writing outcomes for learners of all ages. The association connects researchers, classroom teachers and literacy professionals, providing a platform for sharing best practices, scholarly work, and innovations that strengthen literacy education.
Being featured by ALER underscores the valuable work happening within the Education programs at SRSU. “I’m honored to contribute to a professional community that is deeply committed to improving literacy for all learners,” said Dr. Landreth.
The Fall 2025 newsletter highlights thought leadership, member accomplishments and emerging trends in literacy education. Dr. Landreth’s recognition places SRSU among institutions contributing actively to the national conversation on literacy teaching and learning.
