Kelsey Wogan, the Environmental Lab Manager at Sul Ross State University, has been selected as the 2025 recipient of the Shirley Lusk Memorial Award from the Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT).
The award recognizes individuals for outstanding contributions to community science and native plant research through the collection and documentation of herbarium vouchers, preserved plant specimens that provide lasting records for scientific study.
Wogan’s work supports environmental education and research across the Trans-Pecos region. Her leadership in field studies and her commitment to preserving native plant diversity have strengthened the university’s role in advancing ecological research and conservation in West Texas.
The award was presented during the NPSOT Annual Awards Banquet held Oct.4 in Salado as part of the organization’s 2025 Fall Symposium.
The Shirley Lusk Memorial Award honors the memory of a longtime NPSOT member and conservationist whose work inspired generations of botanists and community scientists to document and protect Texas flora.
