Financial Aid Displacement Advisory
Financial aid displacement occurs when a student’s financial aid is reduced due to receipt of a private scholarship, or other reasons identified in this advisory.
Gift aid is financial help for students that does not need to be repaid.
- Submit the FAFSA.
- Apply for Scholarships.
- Accept or Reject Your Financial Aid Awards.
- Meet & Maintain Eligibility Requirements.
- October 1 – FAFSA and TASFA become available.
- January 15 – FAFSA and TASFA priority deadline.
- April 15 – Estimated time to receive financial aid award notifications for upcoming Fall/Spring.
- August 1- Recommended date to notify SRSU Financial Aid and Scholarships of any gift aid received from resources outside of SRSU like private scholarships.
- Be aware of the grants available at SRSU.
- Apply for scholarships at SRSU.
- Research and apply for scholarships outside SRSU.
Understand your College Costs
If there has been a major change in you or your family’s situation since filing the FAFSA or TASFA or you have special circumstances that were not taken into consideration on the FAFSA, you can submit a Special Circumstances Appeal in the financial aid office.
