Educational Leadership

Educational Leadership focuses on preparing professionals to guide schools, organizations, and communities toward meaningful improvement. At the bachelor’s level, students build a foundation in leadership, communication, and educational systems. Master’s programs deepen leadership practice, emphasizing organizational management, policy, and data-informed decision-making. At the doctoral level, educational leadership prepares scholar-practitioners to lead complex change through applied research, improvement science, and ethical, community-centered leadership.

Across all degree levels at Sul Ross State University, educational leadership is grounded in service, access, and excellence—equipping graduates to strengthen schools and organizations, particularly in rural and borderland communities, through informed, effective, and compassionate leadership.

EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP

Now Accepting Applications

Sul Ross State University is proud to introduce the first doctoral program in its history, dating back to 1917: the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership.

This program is designed for leaders who already hold positions of authority in their organizations and are seeking a rigorous doctoral education to sharpen their practice.

Sul Ross serves rural and borderland communities across our service area, West Texas, and beyond. Those communities deserve doctoral education that understands their context. It should reflect their realities. It should strengthen their capacity to lead with vision, integrity, and purpose.

The Ed.D. is built around change over credential. Grounded in improvement science as its signature pedagogy, the program prepares leaders to identify and solve complex, organization-level problems of practice in the settings where they already lead.

Sul Ross is a member institution of the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED) Network.

At $24,130 for the full three-year program, the Ed.D. is among the most affordable doctoral programs in Texas.
