Sul Ross State University Campus Police Officer Zachary Blakewell was sworn in by University President Bill Kibler on Tuesday, August 13.

Blakewell is the eighth officer to join the University Department of Public Safety.

He graduated from the Sul Ross H. Joaquin Jackson Law Enforcement Academy in the spring and will continue to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.

He moved to Alpine from Michigan a year ago with wife Leah Blakewell, a biology graduate student.
