Sul Ross State University faculty, staff and students will gather on Thursday, January 23 to celebrate the university’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).
The event begins at 3:00 p.m. in the Espino Conference Room of the Morgan University Center.
Sul Ross Middle Rio Grande Campuses (MRGC) will hold festivities with a breakfast on Friday, January 24 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the auditorium of the Del Rio campus.
“At the start of each year, our university community comes together to celebrate the successes of our mapped classes while kicking off another year of our QEP,” said April Aultman Becker, QEP Coordinator.
As part of Thursday’s event, Dr. Mariko Izumi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and QEP Director at Columbus State University, will serve as the keynote speaker.
Dr. Izumi was a member of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) On-Site Review Team that visited Sul Ross in 2018.
SACSCOC is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting, higher education institutions in the Southern United States.
Becker said Dr. Izumi will be speaking about the importance of building and improving communication skills, especially for students following graduation as they enter the job market.
Refreshments will be available along with QEP swag.
A video recording of Dr. Izumi’s presentation will be embedded into a follow-up survey that will be emailed to all MRGC students.
Sul Ross students who attend the presentation along with MRGC students who watch the video will be entered into a raffle give-away.
