Twenty undergraduate and graduate students in education were initiated into the Zeta Delta Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi on Thursday, Dec. 13th inside Sul Ross State University’s Pete P. Gallego Center. President Rebecca Garcia and Counselor Dr. Jeanne Qvarnstrom presided over the ceremony with Dr. Jimmy Case delivering the honored keynote speech.
Founded in 1911, Kappa Delta Pi is an international honor society in education with more than 1.2 million initiated members. The organization’s mission is to promote excellence while advancing scholarship, leadership, and service. All new members pledge to uphold that mission.
During the evening, graduating members were recognized and awarded Kappa Delta Pi color cords to wear during Commencement the following evening.
Initiates were: Monica Aguirre, Leinora Alimboyoguen, Mykia Anderson, Jeanette Barron, Tina Campbell, Rosemary Davis, Ernie Francis-Baptiste, Marissa Garcia, Tyler Hall, Raul Hurtado, Tracy Lee, Rebecca Luna, Rene Mena, Megan Miller, Jeanette Moreno, Lacy Bruce, Amy Rightmer, Victoria Sanchez, Isela Valenzuela, and Elaine Witherspoon.
