The Sul Ross Theatre Program’s production of Red will close this weekend. The final performances of the show will run October 25-27 in the Sul Ross Studio Theatre. Set in the 1950’s and based on true events, Red tells the story of American painter Mark Rothko and his struggle to create a series of murals, newly commissioned for the Four Seasons Restaurant in New York. Rothko and his assistant Ken paint together and challenge each other’s limits, asking critical questions about the creation of art and the role it should have in society. Red stars theatre majors Jonathan Fields (Venus) and Dillon Orr (Marfa).
