The Rio Grande College of Business at Sul Ross State University announced new areas of emphasis for its MBA program beginning in Fall 2025.
Graduate business students will now choose Marketing, Finance, Information Technology Management, Entrepreneurship and Family Business, or Healthcare Management for specialization.
The university is also replacing its MBA in International Trade with a dynamic Global MBA which includes an international travel seminar to enable students to adapt to the competition in today’s global economy.
The MBA at Sul Ross, long recognized as one of the most affordable in the U.S., is designed with working executives in mind – individuals who need to learn the latest theories and strategies to succeed in today’s economy. All courses are offered in an eight-week online format that makes classes easy to fit into a busy schedule.
The new areas of emphasis provide students with the specialized knowledge needed for successful careers in the rapidly growing Texas economy. If Texas were a nation, its economy would be the 8th largest in the world, larger than Canada, Brazil or Australia. Its 2023 growth rate of 7.4 percent is one of the fastest in the world, exceeding that of both China and India. Texas is rapidly becoming a world leader in the high-tech industries of the future and needs managers with the ability to guide businesses in a rapidly changing economy.
“With these new emphasis areas, our MBA is rapidly transitioning from ‘one size fits all’ to a degree that provides greater in-depth knowledge in specific business functions and industries,” said Dr. Thomas Matula, chair of the MBA program.
