Thomas L. Matula, Ph.D., a Professor of Business Administration at Sul Ross State University’s Rio Grande College of Business, will be presenting ” The Role of Space Development in the Global Economy” at the United Nations in New York City. This presentation is part of the Space Renaissance International workshop and will be broadcasted live on YouTube at 11 p.m. CDT on Sept. 19.
Dr. Matula’s presentation is in support of the proposed 18th United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). In 2015, the UN established 17 SDGs with the objective of achieving them by 2030. Dr. Matula argues that the inclusion of the space economy will be essential to the continued sustainable development of the global economy and the achievement of the 17 UN SDGs.
Dr. Matula’s expertise in space economics and his ongoing work on his upcoming book, Astrosettlement: Developing the Solar System, will provide valuable insights into the potential benefits of incorporating space economy into the global economic framework.
