A team from the Sul Ross State University Department of Homeland Security and Criminal Justice was selected to participate in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) training workshop at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.
The workshop was a combination of several lectures about cutting-edge topics including crime mapping, social media and social network analysis, cryptocurrency and financial crimes, forensics, digital forensics, and human trafficking.
The Sul Ross team attending the workshop, held June 24-28, consisted of Associate Professor Oguzhan Basibuyuk, and criminal justice students Kate Rubio, and Phillip Workman.
In addition to learning about cutting-edge developments and ground-breaking research and employment opportunities related to homeland security, the participants also had a chance to meet with different experts, faculty members and students from institutions across the United States.
