The Marketable Skills Advisory Committee (MSAC) met Friday, July 12, to provide direction for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s Marketable Skills initiative.
The initiative is for Sul Ross graduates to complete their academic programs while also acquiring marketable skills.
Members of the Marketable Skills Advisory committee include the following: Rocio Aguado– SRSU Career Center Director; Lisa Gordon– Executive Director Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center, George Johnson– Owner of Johnson Feed, Jennifer Miller– SRSU professor, Sally Roche– SRSU professor, Mark Saka– SRSU professor, Kathy Stein– SRSU professor, Chani Spear– SRSU student, Rick Flores– CEO, Big Bend Regional Medical Center, Jessica Garza– Alpine City Manager and Ginger Turner– Broker and Owner of Mt. View Properties.
Jeanne Qvarnstrom, Assistant Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness, chairs the committee and explained that the group will provide suggestions for all academic program coordinators at the university who will be identifying marketable skills for students within their programs.
Faculty will be developing those marketable skills during the 2019 Fall Semester for implementation in Spring Semester, 2020.
