The recent decisions by the 86th Texas Legislature provide Sul Ross State Univ. with strong support to continue our mission for the state. Sul Ross in Alpine received a 5.1 percent increase in our General Revenue funding ($600k for the biennium) and $1.2m in hold harmless funding to keep the funding levels stable for the next two years. Additionally, the Sul Ross Middle Rio Grande Campuses received a 14 percent increase in the General Revenue funding ($700k for the biennium).
“We truly appreciate the vote of confidence by the Governor, Lt. Governor, Speaker and the members of the Texas Legislature for supporting our mission to provide higher education to far West Texas and the Middle Rio Grande Region of Texas,” said Dr. Bill Kibler, Sul Ross President. “We are also grateful for the exceptional advocacy by the Texas State University System staff in working with us to showcase the value of the educational programs at our university.”
