Sul Ross State University is pleased to introduce Sully Shelf, an innovative new partnership with Follett Access to reduce the cost of textbooks and course materials for students starting with the Fall 2024 semester.
The cost for students under the Sully Shelf program is $250 per the fall and spring semesters. The summer semester cost, which will not begin until 2025, is still being determined.
The amount will be collected as part of regular student fees each semester, so it is covered by Financial Aid. Students can opt out and rent or purchase their books on their own if they choose to do so. Books will be automatically uploaded to Blackboard when a digital option is available, or shipped to students’ address of choice approximately two weeks before classes begin.
Follett Access is a powerful program that enables colleges and universities to deliver all course materials (textbooks, lab kits, supplies, etc.) as part of tuition and fees. With Follett Access, students have what they need on the first day of class, which levels the playing field for all students, regardless of economic background.
Independent research has documented improved learning outcomes from these programs, including improvements in course completion and achievement of higher letter grades, as well as decreases in class withdraw rates.
