SAT: The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is an important step in the enrollment process for incoming Freshman students.

The SAT is offered in-person on Saturdays only at the Sul Ross State University Testing Center located on the 3rd floor of the Briscoe Administration Building, Room 302. The SAT typically lasts 2 hours and 14 minutes, containing two modules in English and two modules in Math.

All SAT registration is done through The College Board. Students will need to create a College Board account to register. Registration can be done here: https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/sat. A list of registration deadlines and dates is provided. The Testing Center will not collect any additional fees upon test administration.

The Testing Center currently sits 14 students for the SAT. Laptops are not required, however, are optional for use.

Additionally, from here on (as of October 14th, 2025), all SAT related examinees will be required to read, agree to, and sign the Sul Ross State University Testing Center Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology and Medical Device Agreement Form prior to the administration of the exam.

TSIA2 (Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0)

The TSIA2 (Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0) is administered by computer, and test scores are available immediately following test completion. Testing is scheduled by appointment or administered during orientation dates.

TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills)

TEAS: TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) is available for potential Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) candidates. It is a three and a half hour proctored test designed to assess students’ preparedness to enter the health science field.

The TEAS examination is provided by the Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI). To be considered a candidate for the SRSU BSN program, students must complete the latest version of the TEAS with the required minimum reading score of 70% and a math score of 69%. Please note that remediation plans are available for students approaching target scores. For additional information regarding admission requirements for the BSN program, click here.

Following successful completion of all admission requirements, potential students can apply for the SRSU BSN program here.

The completed forms must be returned to the Department of Nursing on or before January 31 to be considered for admission to the following summer cohort.

The cost of the TEAS through the registration process with ATI is $70 per test administration. The cost of the Testing Center for Proctoring Services is $20/administration. Payment to ATI directly for the exam will be collected on the day of testing. All students and potential candidates must create a student account with ATI and schedule an appointment with the Testing Center in advance. To create a student account, visit the ATI website.

To schedule an appointment with the SRSU Testing Center for proctor and administration of the TEAS, please contact the Testing Center by calling (432) 837-8178 or email testing@sulross.edu. All TEAS testing is administered in the Testing Center located on the 3rd floor of the Briscoe Administration Building, Room 302.

The $20 administration fee can be paid up front at the Testing Center upon arrival in the form of EXACT cash or credit/debit card. Advance payment can be made at the online marketplace.
