Application for Admission

Apply using the Texas Common Application at www.applytexas.org. A one-time, non-refundable application fee of $25 is required.  Transfer and Readmit students are eligible to fee waiver when they submit a copy of their financial aid award letter showing that they received a Pell grant or other need-based scholarship. Fax, email, or mail your fee waiver.

Admissions Personal URL (PURL)

Within 24 hours of completing the ApplyTexas application to Sul Ross State University, all applicants will be requested to complete their access (user ID and password) to their personalized admissions portal (Personal URL or PURL).  Through their PURL, applicants can check their admissions status, view their admissions checklist, submit requested documents, meet their Enrollment Specialist, schedule an appointment with their academic advisor, schedule an appointment with a Financial Aid Counselor, schedule an appointment with a faculty member in your chosen Program of Study, and enroll in upcoming campus events such as New Student Orientation, Sully Showcase, or Family Day.

Official college/university transcripts from all institutions attended

Send to the Office of Admissions at Sul Ross State University all official transcripts (faxed copies, photocopies, and scanned copies are not accepted) from all colleges and universities you have attended.  Many colleges and universities send transcripts electronically and in most cases, Sul Ross receives electronic copies within two to three business days. Mailed copies of transcripts, depending on the institution from which it is sent, can take 7 – 10 business days to be received.  Contact your University/College Registrar from each of your former institutions to request your transcript be sent.

Readmit students have previously enrolled at Sul Ross State University who did not attend for a Fall or Spring Semester and are now wanting to re-enroll.  Former students must be readmitted to re-enroll in courses.  If the former student attempted any college credit from any other institution, they must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended while away from Sul Ross State University. A cumulative grade point average for all attempted coursework of 2.0 or greater is required for re-enrollment. The student must be in good standing with all other attended colleges or universities.

Transfer students have attempted college credits at an institution of higher education other than Sul Ross State University. The student must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or greater is required. The student must be in good standing with all other attended colleges or universities.

Students who do not have 12 transferable hours must meet both transfer and first time in college admission requirements.

Transferable hours do not include remedial or developmental coursework, technical or vocational courses, courses taken for a certificate of completion or continuing education, chapel, and freshman seminar/study skills.
