Academic Advising
The academic advisement program is, in many ways, the most important service provided to students by the University. Careful, professional advisement can help entering students begin their college work properly, make systematic progress toward fulfilling requirements for a degree as they progress from semester to semester, ensure they will be eligible for graduation upon satisfactory completion of the requirements, and assist students in making career choices.
The Lobo Den has been established to help meet the academic advising and tutoring needs of students at the University. Located on the first floor of the Bryan Wildenthal Memorial Library, our advisors and staff are here to assist all students.

Peer Tutor Program
One of the most significant challenges within education is ensuring all students receive quality instructional opportunities. At the same time, it can be difficult to ensure every student in the classroom is maximizing his or her potential given every student learns differently. Enter tutoring. Since the beginning of organized education, tutoring has been an integral piece of the puzzle for many.
Sul Ross State University supports the academic needs of its students through offering tutoring services in conjunction with academic advising. These services typically offer one on one interactions or small group interactions between the student and tutor enabling students the ability to ask those questions they may not have had the chance to ask in class. Students can get clarification on assignments or they can work in-depth on their writing or math concepts. Bouncing ideas off of one person is much less stressful for some students and they can expand their thinking and reasoning abilities in such a tutoring environment. As tutor experience and knowledge allows, we work with students at all levels and across many subject and content areas.
